General Info

We are excited to announce a special event The 3rd Annual, Gathering Of American Tribes, a VEX IQ Robotics Competition for teams from across North America to celebrate both robotics and Native culture!

This unique event will provide an opportunity for teams to showcase their skills in robotics while embracing the rich heritage of Indian Country. Teams will compete in friendly robotics challenges while also sharing displays that honor a Tribal Elder from their local community. These displays will be available for both participants and the public to enjoy.

Eligibility: To compete, teams must have over 50% of their members recognized as Native American (USA means holding a CDIB card) or Indigenous American (In Canada and/or Mexico). Coaches will be responsible for verifying and documenting the eligibility of their teams. Documentation is to be provided to the event partner via email.

World Championship Qualification: This event will qualify four teams for the VEX Robotics World Championship in the following categories:

  • Elementary Excellence Award – 1 Spot
  • Middle School Excellence Award – 1 Spot
  • Tournament Champions – 2 spots

We invite all eligible teams to participate in this incredible event, where community, culture, and competition come together. Prepare your robots, honor your elders, and get ready for an unforgettable experience!

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

The event will continue unless an emergency occurs.  If an emergency disallows the event to proceed on the scheduled date, other dates may be considered; however, likely it would be cancelled and payments refunded.  With it being indoors and limited travel required, there should not be an issue with weather.

Refund and Payment Policies

If the Event Partner cancels: Refunds will be made less committed expenses.

If you Choose not to attend there will be no guarantee refund but you may request a refumd via email ([email protected])

Judging Format

Digital Engineering Notebook Submissions / In Person Team Interviews: Team interviews will be conducted in-person at the event. Engineering notebooks will be submitted digitally for evaluation  via a link found within the "My Account" panel of the team contact on RobotEvents. A submission deadline that may be scheduled ahead of the event date. 

 

We will send out an upload email and reminder with a link around 30 days before the event.

Notebooks must be uploaded by Feb 11, 2026
