General Info

 

Thank you for your interest in the VEX IQ Elementary Mix & Match Tournament hosted by Hudsonville Robotics!  This will be our 5th year hosting and we look forward to a fun and collaborative event.

Facility - The competition will be hosted in the Main Gym of Hudsonville High School conveniently located one mile north of I-196 just west of Grand Rapids, Mi. Ample parking is available on campus and there are also plenty of resturants and retail locations in the area.  

Competition - Teams will participate in qualification matches, skills events, in-person, printed notebook, judging near the pits, and Teamwork Challenge if qualified.  We will be following the rules in the latest release of the VEX IQ Game Manual.

Judging - We will be collecting Physical engineering notebooks at the start of this event for in-person judging. We will not be able to print notebooks for teams.

Pits - Tables, seating, one outlet at each table, and public WIFI will be provided. You may want to bring a power strip. 

Food - Teams are welcome to bring their own food.  Pizza orders - Teams can pre-order a 14" pizza for $15 cash - our volunteers will handle the order and have it delivered on time for lunch. We will not have a concession stand. 

Registration - All participating teams must be registered with VEX Robotics and the VEX Events website and have an official team number before registering for this event. Tournament fees must be paid before teams are allowed to compete. Registration and payments should be made through the VEX Events website.

Volunteer

We have various positions for volunteers ranging from high school age to adult for novice to expierienced volunteers. We will be posting a volunteer signup web page in late December.

Refund and Payment Policies

Refund Policy

If the Event Partner cancels the event:
A full refund of all registration fees will be issued. Refunds will be made to the address associated with the team's event registration, regardless of the original payment method. The Event Partner will issue the refund using their standard refund process, which may include mailing a check or another payment method.

Examples:

  • If payment was made by check, the Event Partner may issue a refund by check to the school's or organization's business office.

  • If payment was made through a purchase order or other invoicing process, the Event Partner may issue a refund according to their organization's financial procedures.

If a Coach/Mentor withdraws a team or the team does not attend:
If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event and later withdraws the team or the team does not attend, no refunds will be issued.

Payment Deadline:
Payment is January 9, 2027. Teams that have not paid by the payment deadline may be moved to the waitlist to make room for another team.

Travel Info

Hudsonville High School is located on 32nd Ave less than a mile north of the I-196 (exit 62) interchange. 

Parking is on the north side of the high school.  Use the main entrance and turn left to the Central Gym.

Judging Format

The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges.
