General Info

Get ready for the 2026 Hong Kong Open Robotics Tournament, one of the most exciting VEX V5 Robotics Competitions in Hong Kong! Happening on November 22, 2025, at WEO Chang Pui Chung Memorial School, this exciting event welcomes 32 teams from Hong Kong, Macau, China, the Asia-Pacific region, and, for the first time, teams from beyond Asia.

If you are a team from outside Hong Kong, you are welcome to join, and please contact us for assistance with travel and accommodation. This competition qualifies for the Hong Kong Tech Challenge Game. Teams from Hong Kong are REQUIRED to PARTICIPATE in this tournament to qualify for the V5RC Hong Kong Regional Championship.

Introduction

Hosted by Hong Kong Joint School Technology Education Association (JSTEA), Hong Kong Technology Education Association and WEO Chang Pui Chung Memorial School in collaboration with Asian Robotics League, BDS Technology (HK) Limited, Centre for Innovation and Technology (CINTEC) and Chinese University of Hong Kong, this tournament builds on last year’s successful event, offering more students a chance to compete and connect.

The event will feature live streaming and English-speaking emcees. We’re taking the event to the next level, providing a more professional and engaging experience for teams and spectators, making it Hong Kong’s only VEX competition with a global webcast.

Teams will compete in the VEX V5 Push Back game via Smart Field Control system. This year, we’re introducing a new award—Autonomous Coding Award, given to every team that earns an Autonomous Win Point (AWP) or successfully completes the Autonomous Skills Challenge. This award aims to encourage teams to resolve competition challenges via programming. Every team has a chance to win this award, which can be awarded to multiple teams.

Why Join?

JSTEA has been promoting the development of local technology education by organizing and promoting technology-related activities and competitions. We hope to provide opportunities for Hong Kong youth to participate in regional and international technology education activities. This event will give Hong Kong youth and international teams a platform to showcase their skills and exchange ideas. 準備迎接 2026 香港機械人公開賽,香港最具激動人心的 VEX V5 機器人競賽之一!比賽將於 2025年11月22日張沛松紀念中學舉行,屆時將有來自香港、澳門、中國、亞太地區,以及首次來自亞洲以外的 32 支隊伍參與這場精彩盛事。

若您是來自香港以外的隊伍,我們誠摯歡迎您的參與,請聯繫我們以協助安排行程及住宿事宜。本次比賽可獲得香港工程挑戰賽的參賽資格。香港參賽隊伍必須參加本次比賽,方可獲得 V5RC 香港地區錦標賽的參賽資格。

本次賽事將提供現場直播英語主持,為參賽隊伍和觀眾帶來更專業、更具吸引力的體驗,同時使其成為香港唯一提供全球直播的 VEX 比賽。

各隊伍將在 VEX V5 Push Back 比賽中使用智能場地控制系統進行角逐。今年我們將會增設一項全新獎項——自動編程獎,頒發給獲得自動獲勝分(AWP) 或在自動技能挑戰賽中挑戰成功的每支隊伍。獎項旨在鼓勵隊伍編寫程式解決比賽困難。每支隊伍都有機會獲得此獎項,且多支隊伍可同時獲獎。

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

If the Hong Kong Observatory issues a red or black rainstorm warning signal and a tropical cyclone warning signal No. 8 or above, the competition will be canceled or postponed. Please pay attention to the latest information from the organizer.

Refund and Payment Policies

If the Event Partner cancels the event: will refund the registration fee.

 

If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event then chooses to withdraw or not attend: will not refund the registration fee.

Judging Format

  •  Digital Engineering Notebook Submissions / In Person Team Interviews: Team interviews will be conducted in-person at the event. Engineering notebooks will be submitted digitally for evaluation  via a link found within the "My Account" panel of the team contact on RobotEvents. A submission deadline that may be scheduled ahead of the event date.
