Welcome to the Desert Ridge High School VA Sock HOP
Digital Engineering Notebook Submissions / In Person Team Interviews: Team interviews will be conducted in-person at the event. Engineering notebooks will be submitted digitally for evaluation via a link found within the "My Account" panel of the team contact on RobotEvents. Digital Engineering Notebook submissions must be submitted by midnight, November 9, 2025.
Please be sure to complete the online participation release form.
This will be a full in-person event.
We are always open to volunteers!
Any age not interested in Scoring Referee (15+) or Judge (20+) -

Welcome to the Desert Ridge High School VA Sock HOP
Judging Format: We are using a digital notebook for this event.
This year, we will be doing a Sock Drive Challenge:
Objective: Teams must collect the most new adult black socks (in original packaging) to support military members.
Prize: The prize will be based on the team (organization) that collects the most socks.
Beneficiary: Bridging AZ (https://www.bridgingaz.org).
Last year, they were grateful for the 350-plus socks, all of which were black.
We will have an entire V5RC Tournament featuring three competition fields: (1) skills and practice fields.
There are currently 40 slots for this tournament.
Check-in will start at 7:30
Teams must be paid by November 9. Teams not paid at this time will be moved to the waiting list.
Pits: Outside in the courtyard
Parking: Student parking lot across from the basketball and tennis courts, near Guadalupe and Crimson's intersection
Doors Open: 7:30 a.m.

Event Structure:
Blended Event: High School and Middle School teams together. The V5RC Qualifying Criteria document on page 4 will determine the number of Excellence Awards.

Engineering Notebook: Bring a printed version for in-person interviews.
