General Info

Welcome to the 2nd Calhoun Colts VEX Robotics Competition.

This year's game, VEX V5: Push Back Robotics Competition, will be played by high school and middle school teams of students as they design, build and program a robot to defeat each other.

Breakfast and Lunch are offered for purchase by the Calhoun Robotics club

Judging Format:

Digital Engineering Notebook Submissions / In Person Team Interviews: Team interviews will be conducted in person at the event. Engineering notebooks will be submitted digitally for evaluation via a link found within the "My Account" panel of the team contact on RobotEvents. 

The Submission deadline for engineering notebooks for this event will be FRIDAY NOVEMBER 7, 2025 at 5:00 PM.

Volunteers are always welcome. We offer a complimentary breakfast, lunch, and a certificate of community service hours. Experts in engineering and robotics are always welcome, but anyone can help. We have roles for volunteers of all ability levels.

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

In the event of severe inclement weather or other emergency, the event partner will coordinate with the school district and building administrators to decide as early as possible about any potential delay or cancellation of the event.

Any delay or cancellation will be posted on the RobotEvents.com website, and the event host will contact by text/email all attending teams as eary as possible.

The tentative reschedule date is TBD

Refund and Payment Policies

If the Event Partner cancels the event: 

In the event of severe inclement weather or other emergency resulting in the cancellation of the event, the event partner will attempt to reschedule. If the new event date does not work for you, then a full refund of the portion of the registration fee received by the event partner will be issued via check.

If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event, then chooses to withdraw or not attend:

Refund requests for any reason other than event cancellation must be received by November 1, 2025, in writing or by email.

Requests received after November 1, 2025, will be contingent upon a new team replacing the withdrawn team. All refunds will be issued via check.

The building is located between Meadowbrook Road and Merrick Avenue.

Bus Dropoff: Buses should use the back entrance to drop off students and equipment. Buses may park in the back of the school during the event.

Car Parking: Enter the parking lot and park near the back entrance  

Train: The LIRR Merrick train station is a couple bof locks away along Sunrise Highway.
