General Info

The Jackson-Madison County School System is honored to host its 2nd annual "Study Break" at the Malesus STEM Innovation Center (610 Bolivar Hwy, Jackson, TN 38301). This building is the former Malesus Elementary School. The teams will receive additional information via email closer to the tournament.

Please note that JMCSS will follow standard district protocols for safety and security at this event, which include having all individuals go through a metal detector upon arrival and complete a bag check. Spectators will need to have clear bags. Thank you for your understanding!

Each organization/school is expected to provide at least two tournament volunteers in order to participate.

Innovate Award Submission Form. Go ahead and have it completed before you arrive. Forms will be turned in with your Engineering Notebook at the registration table when you arrive.

Volunteer

Each organization will be asked to provide at least TWO volunteers. These volunteers can be coaches and/or other adults traveling with the team. Organizations will be assigned volunteer duties. If you or your volunteers have a particular role you would like to fill, please email Molly Plyler at [email protected] to make that request.

 

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

If the weather is severe enough to warrant cancellation of the event, notices will be sent as soon as possible to all participants. 

Refund and Payment Policies

If the Event Partner cancels the event: 

If EP cancels the event, refunds will be issued. However, refunds do not include the $5 processing fee collected by Robot Events.

If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event, then chooses to withdraw or not attend:

Refunds will NOT be issued.

All registrations must be paid in full within two weeks after the team is registered, unless other arrangements have been made with the EP. Unpaid teams will be moved to the Waitlist two weeks after registration and may be added back in IF there is room on the roster. If your registration payment process takes longer than two weeks, clear communication will keep teams from being moved to the Waitlist.  

Judging Format

All In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges.
