General Info
Africa Open Robotics Competition (AORC)
The Africa Open Robotics Competition (AORC) is an African event dedicated to inspiring and empowering students in STEM education through robotics and innovation. Open to students from elementary to university levels, the competition provides a platform to explore real-world applications of technology through hands-on challenges in robotics, engineering, coding, and AI. AORC is designed to nurture problem-solving, creativity, and collaboration among Africa’s future tech leaders.
The 2026 edition of AORC will be held from January 29 to 31 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the political capital of Africa and home to the African Union. This strategic location underscores the competition’s mission to encourage cross-cultural collaboration in science and technology. In partnership with the Ministry of Innovation and Technology and other stakeholders, AORC continues to grow, attracting students from various African countries particularly African students who reside in Addis Ababa as part of diplomatic, academic, and expatriate communities.
Now in its expansion phase, AORC expects to welcome over 1,800 students and educators, building on past successes that saw participation from teams representing more than 10 African nations. The event features workshops, public demonstrations, and networking opportunities with industry leaders, offering participants and spectators a dynamic and educational experience. Through AORC, Africa’s youth are gaining essential digital skills and the mindset needed to thrive in an AI-driven world.
