Welcome Volunteers to Robots in the Canyon!
We could not execute this event without ALL of your help, so THANK YOU so much for your time and willingness to volunteer.
Please wear a purple GCU shirt! Make sure you are in comfortable shoes as you will be standing and walking for the majority of the event.
When you arrive, check in at the marked "volunteer check in" table near the entrance. Here you will pick up your name badge and assignment.
Your role may include one of the following: queing, field reset, judging, pit area organization, or keeping the crowd safe and energetic. No matter where you are assigned, your serivce is well appreciated and needed for this event,

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy
Weather Policy:
All event activities will be held indoors at the venue, with exception of the walk from the parking garage to the venue space. In the event of severe weather conditions, volunteers will assist teams to the venue with coverings for the robots. All participants will be notified on spot if there are severe weather changes or delays in the schedule as the event is being held. The event will continue as scheduled permitted travelling to the venue can be done safely.
Emergency Policy:
In the case of a fire alarm, medical incident, or a safety threat, all present bodies must adhere to directions given by event staff and security. Teams shall remain with coaches until given the clear. In the event of a medical incident, medical assistance and security will be on call during the duration of this event.
Refund and Payment Policies
In the case that the event planner cancels the event (due to safety concerns, facility issues, or emergencies), all teams will receive a full refund of their registration fee.
In the event that a coach or mentor registers a team, the following will apply:
Withdrawls made 14 days before the event, will receive a full refund. (By November 8, 2025)
Withdrawls made 7 days before the event will receive 50% refund. (By November 15, 2025)
Withdrawls made within 7 days of the event or do not show up to the event, will not recevie a refund. (After November 15, 2025)
The $5 RobotEvents fee will not be included in any issued refunds.
Judging Format
All In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges. However, for those who would like to upload a link to their notebooks instead, use the provided link submission in robot events.
Notebooks will not be reviewed by judges before the event, so please have submissions in by 7:45 AM on Saturday at the latest.
