General Info

Welcome to the "Over the Peninsula" VEX tournament hosted by the Peninsula Panthers. The event will be held in Kelly Johnson Fieldhouse.  We will be running skills as well as two competition fields and two practice fields. We expect to have another great group of judges and volunteers, and look forward to a fun day for all.

Teams are expected to conduct themselves with the sportsmanship and gracious behavior that are core values in VEX robotics competitions. Judges and referees will give strong consideration to these traits in students and adults when considering teams for awards. All teams are expected to follow the school's general rules of conduct. Teams that fail to comply may be disqualified from the tournament without a refund.

Teams must be checked in no later than 8:00 AM. Teams running late must contact Swathi Ram at 310-994-3898 to avoid being removed from the event.

We always welcome input and support from our fellow teams and encourage you all to consider volunteering as a judge or support staff.

We look forward to seeing you "over the peninsula"!

All teams should:

  1. Review the rules and complete the inspection checklist about a week before the competition to allow time for any necessary adjustments.

  2. Check the official VEX forums for rule updates and any changes.

  3. Read all information posted in the tournament listing on RobotEvents.com carefully.

  4. Pack for the event the day before departure. Here are some essential items not to forget:

    • Goggles/Safety Glasses
    • Spare parts & tools
    • Batteries and chargers
    • Programming cable
    • Power strips
    • Laptop
    • Engineering notebook (required for Design and Excellence Awards)
    • Giveaways (if available)
  5. Review the award descriptions and criteria for those being given during the tournament.

  6. Prepare for interviews with the judges. Check the awards tab to see which awards will be given.

  7. Prioritize safety. Avoid bringing tools that pose safety risks, as the venue is a tight fit. No grinding or activities that create sparks indoors.
