General Info

Morris Advanced Robotics welcomes you to the inaugural RoboRodeo! We are proud to host Manitoba's first ever VEX V5 Robotics Competition.

 

Registration and Payment

 

Teams must be registered on events.vex.com and have an official team number before registering for this event. Fees must be paid before being allowed to compete. Registration fee can by paid by credit card at this link: https://rrvsd.schoolcashonline.com/Fee/Details/25887/115/False/True

Please include the Team Number when prompted "Who are you purchasing this for?"

Preparation

All teams should come prepared to compete. Here are some steps that should be taken prior to arriving at the competition:

  1. Read the Game Manual.

  2. Run through a self-inspection about a week before the competition to allow time for any adjustments. Refer to Section 4 of the Game Manual.

  3. Check the Q&A for rule updates.

  4. Pack for the event the day before. Be sure to bring the following:

    • Safety glasses

    • Tools

    • Spare parts

    • Batteries and chargers

    • Extension cord and power bar

    • Laptop

    • Micro USB cable for programming

    • Physical copy of your Engineering Notebook (Required for judged awards)

    • Banners and/or decorations for your team pit area, as well as any swag you wish to distribute (optional)

  5. Review the Award Descriptions.

  6. Prep for your interviews with the judges. Review the Team Interview Rubric and the Engineering Notebook Rubric found in the Judging Guide.

  7. Ensure that you have the latest version of VEXcode V5 and firmware for your V5 Brain. Also ensure that your Team Number has been set in your V5 Brain.

Participation and Consent Form

A completed form for all team members and coaches attending the competition must be uploaded to events.vex.com prior to the competition. Coaches, please ensure that all members have done so, as particpants without a consent form will not be allowed to participate.

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

Please check this tab for the most current information in case of inclement weather. We will update this page as soon as decisions are made regarding event cancellation or postponment.

Every effort will be made to keep the event running according to plan, but the safety of our competitors, coaches, and volunteers must come first. Should inclement weather create conditions unsafe for travel, the event may be postponed until the following day—December 6.

Refund and Payment Policies

If the Event Partner cancels the event: 

In the event of cancellation, every effort will be made to reschedule the event. If the event cannot be rescheduled, refunds will be issued.

If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event then chooses to withdraw or not attend:

No refund will be issued.

Judging Format

All In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges.
