WA | VEX V5 Robotics Event

General Info

South Coast Baptist College invites VEX V5 teams to participate in the SCBC VEXcellence Workshop.

It is early days in this year's VEX season, and with many teams still designing and building their robots for the V5 competition, we plan to host a Workshop and Skills session for all WA teams. This will allow students to complete their builds and give them valuable time to discuss, share, and learn alongside talented peers from other teams. We anticipate that more teams would be able to compete in a friendly scrimmage towards the end of the day. 

Please take note of the following important information.

Event Location

• The event will be held in the Multi-Purpose Gym located on Oakwood Crescent, on the Senior School side of the campus.
• Participants should use the Oakwood Crescent entrance to access the event venue.
• Visitor parking is available onsite, next to the MPG.

Arrival and Check-in

• Teams should arrive by 9:30 am to allow sufficient time for check-in and set-up.
• Teams need to ensure they have all needed equipment, tools, and parts to be able to actively build, code, and test their robots.
• A workbench will be set up just outside the venue should students require a space for fabrication, as only assembly of robots will be allowed in the MPG.

Event Times

• The event will promptly commence after the welcome and briefing.
• Students are welcome to leave at any time based on school approval; however the event is expected to conclude at approximately 4:00 pm.
• Please note that the schedule may be adjusted depending on the final number of teams registered.
• Any changes will be communicated to participating schools before the event.

Food and Drink

• Teams are encouraged to bring their own food, snacks and drinks for the day.
• Bubblers are available, but students should also bring a clearly labelled water bottle.
• The Waikiki Village Shopping Centre is located approximately one kilometre from the competition venue and offers cafés, takeaway food, and supermarkets where participants can purchase meals, snacks and drinks.
• Participants intending to leave the College grounds should ensure their students remain appropriately supervised to ensure duty of care at all times.

Further Assistance

• Staff and volunteers will be available throughout the day to provide guidance and assistance, ensuring an enjoyable and well-organised competition experience for all.
