As there are less team registered and to help lower Island teams with travel, we will be starting actual qualifications at 10:00AM
Friday afternoon
3:30 pm Begin setting up the courts and pit area
6:30 pm robot inspection begins (teams are encouraged to do this early)
6:30 pm courts are set up for practice.
8:00 pm shut down and close up the school. Out of town teams head to hotel and dinner.
Saturday Competition
7:45am Doors open.
8:00am to 9:45am Inspection continues from previous night.
8:30am - 9:45am - Both main fields open for Skills Runs (Local teams are encouraged to do this in the AM)
9:45am - Opening ceremonies/Driver Information
10:00am - Pizza order comnpleted
10:00am - 12:00pm (Qualifying matches begin. 4 minute rounds on 2 courts alternating),
12:00pm to 1:30pm - Lunch time & BOTH main courts open for Skills runs with out of town teams have first priority in the queue. There will be a concession for students to purchase food and drinks in addition to the PIZZA Order. Coaches, Volunteers, receive a free lunch in coach’s room.
1:30 pm to 3:30 pm Qualifying matches continue
3:30 to 4:00pm - Alliance partners are picked, Top 16 teams pick partners to advance to playoffs,
4:00 pm to 4:30 pm Elimination rounds
4:30 pm - Awards ceremony & Closing remarks
5:00 pm Clean up by local coaches, parents and teams.

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy
Mid- Island Challenge - CANCELLED due to weather conditions/forecast for Friday, January 17th AND Saturday January 18th. All SD71 School Facilities are closured due to winter conditions
This Tournament will be rescheduled to Saturday, February 1st in teh exact same format.
In case of an incident or circumstance effecting this event, The event organizer will undertake these TWO notification strategies.
- An advisory describing the situation (e.g. inclement weather) and the action being taken (e.g. event cancellation) will be posted to this RobotEvents event listing under this tab.
- The same information will also be e-mailed to all registered team coaches.
Refund and Payment Policies
Event cancellation
Should the event be cancelled, registration fees will be refunded to all teams in full
(less RECF administration fees if initially paid by credit card).
Team cancellation
Registered teams needing to cancel will be eligible for a full refund if notification of cancellation is submitted prior to freezeing (publication of) the qualification match schedule.
Refund terms are as above.
Full refunds (or event credits) for teams that have paid by cash or cheque,
Less RECF administration fees if registration was initially paid by credit card.
Please note: We consider our cancellation and refund terms to be very lenient. PYRS reserves the right to withdrawn registration privileges of teams found to be abusing these terms (e.g. repeated team cancellations due to speculative registration).

Travel Info
Travelling from the mainland to the Island and back
Highland Secondary is located in the Comox Valley which is approximately 1 1/2 hrs up Island from the Departure Bay ferry terminal and 1 3/4 hrs from the Duke Point ferry terminal in good weather.
If you wish to travel on the day of the event from the lower mainland, there is a 5:15am ferry from Tsawwassen to Duke Point, which would get you to the school around 8:45am - 9:00am depending on weather conditions. Should you chose this option, please contact the event organizers so they are aware you are on the morning ferry.
