General Info

NOTE: Please don't register directly for this event. We will first try to fill in teams from the waitlist at the Southridge PYRS VRC Qualifier on Jan 14. If you are interested in registering for this event, but are not on the Southridge waitlist, please add your team to this event's waitlist.

Welcome to the Ten Ton Robotics New Year VRC Qualifier.   The event will be held at West Vancouver Secondary School. 

This tournament will offer skills in the morning. Teams are encouraged to check-in and pass inspection promptly so that they can complete their 3 driver and 3 programming runs before qualification matches begin.

This tournament will also offer judging. The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. To qualify for the Design & Excellence Awards teams must submit a physical copy of their notebook for the judges to evealuate.

There will be expectations and safety requirements to comply with any safe practices for the school, the district and the province, in effect on the day of the tournament.

9:00 am - 9:30 am - Inspection

9:30 - 12:30 - Skills Runs and Judging

12:30 - 1:00 - Lunch (Cafeteria will be closed, so please bring your own lunch, snacks, and drinks.). 

1:00 - 1:15 - Drivers Meeting

1:15 - 3:45 - Qualification Matches

4:00 - 4:45 - Eliminations + Tournament Finals

5:00 - 5:30 - Awards

5:30 - 6:00 - Pack up, Clean up, and Go Home

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

If the event cannot run because of weather or other events, teams will be contacted by email and if very last minute by phone.
Please make sure you have provided us with those current emails and numbers.

Refund and Payment Policies

Teams can cancel with 1 week notice. Teams that cancel with less than 1 week notice, will be billed for the full cost of the event if the waitlist is exhausted and your spot is empty

Holding spots is strongly discouraged.

As we get closer to the event this page will be updated to the best practices we have in place at this time.

Keep your distance from others. As tempting & exciting as it may be, please do not crowd around the fields where the matches are being played. This area is reserved for the teams participating in that match, referees, field setters, and volunteers.

All approved events and event attendees are required to follow all local, national or any other government advice and guidance regarding COVID-19 safety procedures, social distancing, and best hygiene practices. Event Partners should continually assess, based on current government guidelines, whether to postpone, cancel, or significantly reduce the number of attendees when necessary.

Travel Info

We are at 1750 Mathers avenue in West Vancouver.

The event will be held at West Vancouver Secondary School in the Tech Wing (the 1-storey building just East of the staff parking lot). 

From Mathers Ave, please drive down to the Staff Parking Lot. The entrance to the Parking Lot is at the West end of the main school building on Mathers Ave. After you park, you can enter at the Tech Wing which is just East of the staff parking lot.

Upon arrival, please register at the Registration Desk,.

Judging Format

 In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges.

Judging – Each team will have 8 minutes (on a timer) to present to judges and must sign up for a judging time slot. See the Judging Tab for details.

Each team will have 8 minutes (on a timer) to present to Judges.

When you arrive, please immediately sign up for a judging time slot between 9:30 am - 12:00 pm. The slots will be filled on a first come first served basis.

IMPORTANT: We will have an adequate number of time slots so that every team has the opportunity to be judged. Please arrive a few minutes early for your time slot for judging.

Cafeteria will be closed. Please bring your own food, snacks, and drinks.
