General Info
Welcome to the 2023 North Shore VEX Tournament hosted at Waialua High & Intermediate School.
This is a live, in-person event open to Middle AND High School VRC teams.
Please read all information carefully, as NO refunds will be made for teams that sign up and once paid. *See Refund Policy*
Please support the Waialua Robotics Program! All proceeds from the concession stand help cover the cost of hosting this event. The concession stand will be available on Saturday, December 9, 2023 from 7:30am to 2:00pm. In addition, an assortment of snacks, desserts, and drinks (water, juice, soda) will be available for purchase all day throughout the competition.
- To pre-order bentos, hot dogs, and/or hamburger sets, please visit the link (Order Form) to make your request. Please make certain your requests what you plan to order, so that we can ensure they are made correctly and accurately. We cannot accept cancellations once orders are made. If you need to make modifications to an order (ex. Adding more quantities, changing the food choice, etc.), please fill out the form again with your modification. DEADLINE TO PRE-ORDER SETS: November 30, 2023.
In Summary:
- Before registering for this event, teams MUST be registered for the 2023-2024 Season.
- 2 entries MAX per organization
- This event will qualify teams for the 2024 Hawaii State Championships (Number of state spots will be determined by the RECF group). A generous total of 17 awards will be given at this event!
Reminders:
- Please supervise all team members; we are guests of Waialua High & Intermediate School. Teams are restricted to the Event area.
- There should be NO running in the pit or tournament areas. Please be careful about creating tripping hazards with packing crates, etc.
- Please keep the pit area clean.
- Charging tables will be available; bring your own power strip and extension cord.
- Please do not bring your own VEX field game set unless you were requested/confirmed to do so.
- Please check back regularly to keep up to date on any changes or additions made to this event. For any changes made, we will be sure to update the site immediately.

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy
The event will not be canceled due to bad weather except for a declared state or federal emergency. No refunds will be given to teams who do not attend due to bad weather.
The event partner will contact teams if the event must be canceled or postponed. Teams should make sure their contact information is up to date and includes both school and non-school phone numbers.
Refund and Payment Policies
If the Event Partner cancels the event (for emergency, bad weather, or any other reason), refunds will be given to all teams who have paid. If a coach registers then cancels, no refunds will be given.
Teams must make payment prior to the event and will not be allowed to compete if payment has not been received. We are able to take cash/check on the day of the event prior to team check in. If your team would like to do this, please send us a courtesy email to Ms. Rhea Mae Arellano, at [email protected] prior to the payment deadline. Checks can be made payable to "Friends of Waialua Robotics."

Travel Info
The tournament will be held in the Waialua High & Intermediate School Gymnasium. This includes the pits, competition and practice fields, the judges' room, and restrooms. The concession stand will be outside, near the gym entrance, and the designated eating areas outside of the gym. Parking is in the lower area below the Gymnasium. The entrance to the parking lot is off of Farrington Highway.

Judging Format
All In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges.
