General Info
Welcome to the Grassroots VEX V5 (MS/HS) Invitational Tournament! This tournament is designed specifically to support local schools with a low-cost, high-quality competitive robotics experience.
Registration & Eligibility To ensure a level playing field and maximise opportunities for underfunded programs, registration is open to schools only and is strictly capped at a maximum of 4 teams per school.
-
How to Register: All interested teams must register for the Waitlist first. We will manually review the Waitlist and move teams to the official roster to enforce our school limits and 16-team capacity.
The Community Barter Model We are utilising a barter model to eliminate capital expenses and keep registration fees minimal. Schools that lend official V5RC Override competition fields and game elements will receive free registration for their teams. Please contact the Event Partner directly to arrange an equipment barter.
Food & Concessions To keep overhead minimal and prevent food waste, no concessions will be sold at this event. All teams must bring their own lunches, snacks, and drinks.
VEX U Volunteers We are thrilled to partner with our local VEX U teams, who will be serving as our certified Key Volunteers and utilising the Robot Skills field during downtime. But we can always use more Refs.

Volunteer
Volunteer Information Our event relies on the dedication of our community. While our local VEX U teams will be filling our certified Key Volunteer roles (Head Referee and Judge Advisor), we are actively seeking volunteers for the following positions:
-
Field Resetters & Queuers: Fast-paced, active roles focused on staging teams and keeping the match schedule running smoothly.
-
Robot Inspectors & Check-In: Detail-oriented roles that interact directly with teams to ensure safety and rule compliance. These duties conclude early in the day.
-
Tournament Manager Operator: A role suited for someone calm under pressure who is comfortable with technology to run the match control software.
Time Commitment: Saturday, November 28, 2026, from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Experience: No prior robotics experience is needed for general roles. We will provide all necessary training the morning of the event. Provided: Lunch, snacks, and drinks will be provided for all full-day volunteers.
If you are interested in supporting these students, please email: [email protected] / [email protected]
Emergency/Bad Weather Policy
Since the Singapore Grassroots Invitational is held indoors, the tournament will proceed rain or shine.
In the rare event of a severe weather advisory, facility emergency, or other unforeseen circumstance that forces a cancellation or postponement, all primary team contacts will be notified immediately via the email addresses associated with their events.vex.com registration. Please ensure your team's contact information is up to date in the system.
If your specific team experiences a travel emergency on the morning of the competition and cannot arrive prior to the close of Check-In and Inspection, please contact the Event Partner immediately so we can adjust the Match Schedule.

Refund and Payment Policies

-
Barter Agreements: Schools that have arranged an equipment barter with the Event Partner will receive a 100% discount code when invited off the Waitlist. This code must be entered at checkout to clear the balance.
-
Team Withdrawals: If a registered team withdraws from the tournament or fails to attend on event day, no refunds will be issued.
-
Event Cancellation: The Event Partner is responsible for issuing refunds according to published policy. In the rare case that the Singapore Grassroots Invitational is completely canceled and cannot be rescheduled, paid registration fees will be refunded.
