General Info
United South Central is adjusting to current capacity and offering a SKILLS ONLY event this year. However, we want to have a little more fun and learning than "just skills". Responding to many coaches who would like to see more feedback for teams, we will be doing "non-official" award judging for teams. This allows the judges to provide and give feedback to the teams unlike a full event in both notebooks and interviews.
Skills runs will be submitted to the VEX leaderboard for state, national and world rankings. The event itself will NOT have any state invitations rewarded.
For those not familiar with this event, it consists of a day where there are open fields to run your skill attempts on. Teams will be allowed to sign up for time slots to run their robots. Slots will also be opened for the mock judging and notebook review. This will be shared out a month before the event so teams can plan accordingly. All three opportunities would take a team around an hour to hour to an hour and a half to complete back to back if the schedule works out that way. Teams are allowed to show up 30 minutes before their runs for inspections and can leave once all their official business is done for the day.
We will also try to have fun with some other awards and mini events throughout the day. USC VEX will be giving other awards for various achievements such as tallest tower, heaviest robot, fastest robot... Teams are also welcome to create a trophy and submit a category of their own.
Concessions will be provided throughout the day.
As this is a new event for us, we are going to be flexible on interests of the participants and anticipate some tweaks to the agenda depending on numbers. We will be in contact one month, two weeks and three days before the event to be clear on how the event is forming up.
Please reach out to EP, Doug Sahr, if you have any questions or suggestions to make this a fun and educational event for all teams!

Volunteer
We'll need a handful of judges and some individuals to run an inspection table. Otherwise the event should be covered. Please reach out if you have anyone interested.
Emergency/Bad Weather Policy
The policy we'll have in place is we'll close if my superintendent make us. Being its an open schedule, if weather encourages us to start earlier or later to make it work we'll still host the event.
If the event is cancelled, registration will be refunded minus any VEX EVENTS fees.
Refund and Payment Policies
If the Event Partner cancels the event: Full refund. If canceled due to weather, any fees drawn by VEX EVENTS may or may not be returned according to their policy.
If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event then chooses to withdraw or not attend:
Cancellations requested with two or more weeks from the event will be refunded. Cancellation refunds made after this time is up to the EP. No-shows will not get a refund.
Judging Format
- No Award Judging
- In-Person mock Judging. Judging will be conducted for teams and notebooks for review and feedback. This is for growth and will not be part of offical VEX awards, or if awarded, will not be state qualifying and only reconized at the local level.
