General Info
Thank you for Your interest in the West Salem VEX V5 Rookie Tournament on January 30, 2027! This is an invitational event only, Please have your coach reach out for an invite to this event if your team is eligible. For this event, Rookie teams are generally considered teams that have not received a Tournament Champion or Excellence Award and/or have competed in two or fewer VEX seasons. Final eligibility is at the discretion of the Event Partner and Head Coaches.
If your team would like to compete this weekend but is a more experienced or advanced team, feel free to register for the Varsity-level event happening the following day, January 31, 2027.
A cash only snack bar will be avalible during the event selling snacks, pizza, and morning coffee during the event.
We are looking forward to hosting your team and giving our newer VEX teams an opportunity to compete, learn, and gain experience!

if you are interested in helping volunteers. We can use referees, judges, field resetters, coordinators, and fields. If you are interested in helping out please contact me at Zachary Link ([email protected]). Teams that bring volunteers can have a portion or all of their registration fee waved.
Emergency/Bad Weather Policy
If bad weather is to occur, use your own discretion on attending the event. If the event is canceled and we are not able to reschedule the event a portion of your fee will be returned to you.
Refund and Payment Policies
If the Event Partner cancels the event and we are not able to reschedule the event a portion of your fee will be returned to you.
If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event then chooses to withdraw or not attend we can look at swapping teams but no refund will be given.
Health and Safety Policies
The safety of all participants, volunteers, and spectators is a priority at the West Salem VEX V5 Tournament.
- A first aid kit will be available at the event.
- Restrooms are available inside the school.
- Teams are responsible for following all VEX safety rules and West Salem High School safety policies.
- Students should notify their coach or an event volunteer immediately if they are injured or if a safety concern arises.
- Please keep walkways, exits, and designated competition areas clear at all times.
Webcast
We will be partnering with local university robotics teams to provide a live stream of the event. The stream link and viewing information will be posted on the day of the tournament.
Judging Format
Digital Engineering Notebook Submissions. Team interviews will be conducted in-person at the event. Engineering notebooks will be submitted digitally for evaluation via a link found within the "My Account" panel of the team contact. The submission deadline January 18.
