About the Team

Team 1429 and Galena Park High School would like to take this opportunity to introduce a unique program that encourages students to the worlds of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. With rapidly changing technology in today’s society, there is a growing need of understanding and innovation. Team 1429 (Team KAOS) is committed to providing an environment that promotes our students to have a better understanding of real life situations, and build a more technologically literate workforce. Galena Park ISD is continuing to do our part to change the way students learn job skills. We are introducing for the first time this year a vision of smaller learning communities so that students receive a more hands-on approach to S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). Students begin this process by choosing classes that pertain to their field of interest. By their senior year, these students will have had the opportunity to select multiple classes that pertain to that course of study. This concept will give the students more hands-on approach and more than on one experience with the instructor. Since its inception in 2002, Team KAOS has had the opportunity to compete in several robotics competitions all over the nation. The FIRST Robotics Competitions and the VEX Robotics Competitions are exciting, multinational competitions that team professionals and young people have to solve an engineering design problem in an intense and competitive way. Team KAOS is proud to be one of the original VEX teams in the State of Texas. They competed in the very 1st event at Lamar High School in 2008. Since then, they have helped establish Texas as one of the leaders in quantity of teams in VRC.
