About this Season
The 2024–2025 school year was a banner year for the Sumner JROTC Robotics Team, marked by technical breakthroughs, determined teamwork, and national-level recognition. Early in the season, the team dove into the VEX Robotics Competition (VRC) High Stakes challenge, using the V5 robotics platform. Cadets approached the engineering process with military precision and creative energy—conceptualizing, building, and refining a highly effective robot that stood out for its consistency, strategic flexibility, and autonomous performance. Through a series of competitive events, the team rapidly rose in the ranks. After strong showings at regional qualifiers and disciplined refinement of both design and code, Sumner JROTC Robotics earned a coveted invitation to the JROTC VEX Nationals, a distinction achieved by only a select few programs across the country. At the JROTC Nationals, held in [insert location if known], our cadets demonstrated excellence in both technical execution and sportsmanship. The event tested their engineering, programming, and problem-solving skills under high-pressure conditions—and they delivered with pride. The team’s strong performance showcased their ability to adapt mid-match, coordinate effectively, and maintain composure in a fast-paced, competitive environment. Key achievements this year included: Qualification for the JROTC VEX Nationals, a first in program history. Top-tier placement at state-level VEX events, with awards for programming and design documentation. Mentorship of new cadet engineers, growing the future of Sumner Robotics and strengthening the team’s pipeline for sustainable success. STEM outreach events with middle school students and local families to promote robotics and engineering opportunities within our community. Sumner Robotics has proven that excellence in STEM goes hand-in-hand with the leadership and discipline fostered in JROTC. Our cadets demonstrated that they are not only skilled technicians but also outstanding representatives of Sumner High School’s values—teamwork, service, and innovation. With eyes already set on next year’s VEX challenge, the team is committed to reaching even greater heights and returning to Nationals stronger than ever.
