About the Team

Skillset Lions Motto: "THIRST FOR VICTORY, POWER OF STEEL" We are Skillset_Lions, a VEX IQ team from Kazakhstan, proudly representing our school and country in our first competitive season. We started our robotics journey in November 2024, full of energy, curiosity, and a passion for learning. Our team is guided by our coach, Mr. Serik and Mr.Yerkanat, who supports us in developing our technical skills, teamwork, and competition readiness. With his mentorship, we’ve learned to think critically, stay organized, and approach challenges with confidence. Meet Our Team: Alisher – Team Captain & Driver A focused leader who makes decisions during matches and motivates the team. Adilzhan – Engineer & Driver Responsible for the mechanical structure and co-driving responsibilities. Timur – Coder & Engineer Writes and tests the programs that control our robot's actions. Yerzhurek – Engineer & Strategist Contributes creative ideas for building and helps develop game strategies. Even though this is our first season, we’ve already made great progress and are excited to continue learning, building, and competing as a team. With our motto, "THIRST FOR VICTORY, POWER OF STEEL" we are ready to take on any challenge that comes our way!

About this Season

Our journey in the VEX IQ Robotics program began in November 2024. As a brand-new team with no prior experience, everything was new — from building and programming to understanding game strategy and teamwork. Despite these challenges, we were excited and motivated to learn as much as possible. We started by studying the Rapid Relay game manual and watching videos to understand the rules and scoring system. Then we began building our first robot prototype, experimenting with different mechanisms and learning how to solve problems together. In January, we participated in our very first competition — the "Milestone & Skillset VEX Robotics Showcase Event" (January 10–11, 2025). We were honored to receive the Energy Award, which recognized our enthusiasm and team spirit. Fueled by that experience, we kept improving our robot, refining our strategy, and practicing our coding and driving. Our hard work paid off at the Kazakhstan VEX IQ National Championship (February 22–23, 2025), where we proudly won the Excellence Award — the highest recognition a team can receive! This victory earned us a spot at the 2025 VEX Robotics World Championship, an achievement we never imagined possible in our first season. It’s been an incredible journey of learning, growth, and teamwork — and we are more motivated than ever to keep going and represent our country on the world stage.
