About the Team

We are the WYRED Rising Phoenix, a team comprised of 5 boys and 3 girls that range from 10-14 years old. Our team has members ranging in years of experience from this year being their first year in robotics to some members being in for the last 5 years. There is organic mentorship happening within our team, as well as mentoring our elementary team WYRED BelleBots. We love not only robotics but also being together which is why our team comradery is so good. We are graduating 3 members from our team after this year, which is bittersweet, but their legacy will be felt with the returning members they have mentored through the years. 1 of our graduating members is also part of the Tech Point Student Advisory Council to help spread her reach to others!

About this Season

We competed in 4 competitions throughout Indiana (3 with judged awards and 1 without). We have won 2 Excellence Awards, 1 Teamwork Champion Award, and 1 Skills Award. We are currently ranked 18th in all of Indiana. Throughout this year, we have went from a modified swishbot to a gravity fed intake with ability to hold two balls at once and have a catapult. We have learned throughout the season at each competition and have made improvements for every competition. Our V3 robot has many upgrades as well but isn't quite ready. This was a hard decision to go with our V2 at state, but hopefully our journey doesn't end at State and this robot can be unveiled at Worlds.
